In early May 2009 the government adopted new standards for the health insurance supplement. The standards were developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAICS) and were established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and providers implement Act of 2008.
The Standard Insurance Medicare Supplement was originally hired by the NAIC in 1979 and have already been warned several times since.
